The WFS Aviapartner acquisition has been completed after Worldwide Flight Services secured full regulatory approval to purchase Aviapartner Cargo NV at Brussels Airport. The transaction strengthens WFS’s position in Belgium and expands its operational capabilities in one of Europe’s key air cargo hubs.
Worldwide Flight Services, a SATS company and the world’s largest air cargo handler, confirmed that the deal enhances its service portfolio with full freighter ramp handling, towing, and airside transportation services. As a result, the WFS Aviapartner acquisition significantly broadens the company’s operational footprint at Brussels Airport.
More than 200 Aviapartner Cargo employees will join WFS under the agreement. Consequently, the integration adds skilled labor and operational expertise to the existing workforce. This workforce expansion supports WFS’s strategy of strengthening service depth while maintaining operational continuity.
WFS first established operations in Brussels in 1992. Since then, it has built a strong presence in the Belgian air cargo market. Currently, the company provides warehouse handling for over 50 airlines across two facilities spanning nearly 30,000 square meters. Therefore, the WFS Aviapartner acquisition adds substantial additional scale to an already established base.
In addition to Brussels, WFS maintains a growing presence in Liège. There, it delivers ramp and warehouse handling services for 12 airlines and Cainiao, a global leader in e-commerce logistics. As a result, Belgium has become a strategic hub in WFS’s broader European network.
Under the terms of the deal, WFS will assume control of Aviapartner Cargo’s 33,000 square meter cargo terminal at Brussels Airport. The facility includes two specialized pharmaceutical handling areas, a Phyto Sanitary inspection point, and dedicated mail and courier handling services. Consequently, the WFS Aviapartner acquisition enhances WFS’s ability to manage temperature-sensitive and regulated shipments.
Aviapartner has operated cargo services at Brussels Airport for 75 years. Over that period, it built expertise in warehousing and freight forwarding support. However, following the transaction, Aviapartner will continue to provide ground handling services for passenger airlines and executive or private aviation at the airport.
The acquisition further strengthens WFS’s Belgium product offering by adding expanded airside capacity. Moreover, it enhances freighter ramp access and cargo transportation capabilities. These additions create new growth opportunities across both existing airline partnerships and potential new clients.
Philippe Torry, WFS Managing Director Belgium, welcomed the completion of the deal. He stated that the company is pleased to add capacity, customers, and experienced personnel to its Brussels operations.
